To be human is to have a heart like a yo-yo and a head like a wheel. It is to experience emotions that take you up one moment, and down the next. While you try to understand these oscillating moods, your mind goes round in ever-decreasing circles. You cannot change this but you can try to relax and accept it. As you do, you find the wheels slow down while the ups and downs even themselves out.
An amazing thing about the world in which we live is the random things that seem to happen aren’t ever really random. And these ‘random’ things don’t happen to us. They happen for us.
Yet we only see the hidden order in chaos after the fact. If only we could see it in the moment…
And this is what I’d like to charge you with this week: Practice seeing perfection in the moment. Sounds very Zen, I know, but there is a science, so-to-speak, behind it.
The instant we recognize there’s a design beneath disorder, we’re actually propelling ourselves towards clarity. We’re speeding up the process. We’re injecting Light into the darkness.
When we feel mired in darkness, with no sign of Light at the end of the tunnel, we’re perpetuating our blindness. It’s as though we’re saying, “There’s no good here; God’s skipped this one; cause and effect don’t really exist.” And these kinds of thoughts simply plant seeds for further darkness, chaos and misdirection.
We’re in the month of Cancer now, and the Aramaic name for this time, Sartan, literally means “remove confusion.” While it can be a most confusing month – and most infuriating – it’s also the most powerful month to see beyond confusion. Strengthening our inner vision now will leave us with greater insight the whole year-long.
So, don’t let chaos get to you this week. When things get challenging, before thinking or taking action, remember, “This too is for the best.” The best might not spontaneously materialize before your eyes, but when you stay alert, you will catch a glimpse of it sooner than you think.
